Reminds me of the red-sand beach near Hana, on Maui. Clothing optional. Discouraged, actually.

I never felt so ridiculous in my life... My brother had been going on Club Med vacations to the Caribbean for years. He felt perfectly natural.

Just saying "hi". Been very busy with work lately.

Hi Jeff,

I've never been to a clothing-apptional beach before. I can imagine one might need a lot of sun screen :)

I was worried you had given up blogging. I hope you get some more free time soon.

Like the Jeffers poem. It's not as dark and apocalyptic as some of his other stuff. He doesn't get the attention he deserves, I think. He was really important in the first half of the 20th century, especially his influence on the next generation of poets.

Multitude stands in my mind but I think that the
ocean in the bone vault is only
The bone vault's ocean: out there is the ocean's;
The water is the water, the cliff is the rock, come
shocks and flashes of reality. The mind
Passes, the eye closes, the spirit is a passage;
The beauty of things was born before eyes and
sufficient to itself, the heart-breaking beauty
Will remain when there is no heart to break for it.

That's really beautiful writing.
