Al Gore and Adrienne Rich

I saw in this story that Al Gore has a climate change poem i his recent book. I'm not sure if I like it, but it reminds me of this bit of another poem by Adrienne Rich ....

My heart is moved by all I cannot save:
so much has been destroyed
I have to cast my lot with those
who age after age, perversely,
with no extraordinary power,
reconstitute the world.

Here's Al Gore's poem ....

One thin September soon
A floating continent disappears
In midnight sun
Vapors rise as
Fever settles on an acid sea
Neptune's bones dissolve
Snow glides from the mountain
Ice fathers floods for a season
A hard rain comes quickly
Then dirt is parched
Kindling is placed in the forest
For the lightning's celebration
Unknown creatures
Take their leave, unmourned
Horsemen ready their stirrups
Passion seeks heroes and friends
The bell of the city
On the hill is rung
The shepherd cries
The hour of choosing has arrived
Here are your tools

Al Gore does a nice powerpoint presentation but for sure we need more people like Adrienne Rich writing the climate change poems...
