Ignatian retreats

I'm always wondering what a retreat at a Jesuit spirituality center would be like, never having been to one, so when I saw a group of videos on Ignatian retreats from the Jesuits of the New England Province, I thought I'd post this one short segment that describes what retreat days are like ....

  1. I found your interesting blog when I was looking for info. on Matteo Ricci. I too am a Catholic convert (RCIA 23 years ago this week). Two years ago I went through the Ignatian Exercises and our group continues to meet and share our experiences, now finishing the Gospel of John. I thought you might be interested in following our (intermittent) blog: The Assumption Examiner. http://assumptionexaminer.blogspot.com/

    Happy Easter Season.

  2. Ann,

Thanks for the link to your blog - nice painting at the top :)

The closest I've come to a Spiritual Exercises retreat is the online 33 week version given by Creighton University. It was one of the best ecperiences of my life.

  3. Loved all the retreats I took part in during my SD training. All were Ignatian influenced and all were very good experiences. I would highly recommend taking part in one.

Do you have a retreat centre near you? I think you'd really get a lot out of them.

  4. As far as I know, there isn't one nearby. When I was in the RCIA group we were supposed to spend the last weekend at a monastery in Vina - link - but I didn't go. I think most retreats would be kind of expensive for me and I'm so shy I'd probably wither away from homesickness. But still I dream :)
