Remember when Trump predicted that on November 4, the day after the election, states would open up and the virus would disappear, because it was just a hoax the Democrats created to get votes?
He lied. Again. The pandemc is now worse than ever. There is a vaccine on the distant horizon, but in the meantime all we have to rely on is basic avoidance - social distancing and masking.

I only recently realized that the polyurethane mask I've been wearing over and over again for the last 8 months is not made to filter out viruses like COVID and should be disgarded after only 3 wearings. Eeeeek! (Can Japanese Pitta Masks Protect Against Coronavirus?) That's what I get for buying a mask with a product description in a language I can't read ;)

I wear KN95 masks. They're similar to the N95 ones, except they have ear loops, instead of the straps around the back of the head. But similar material, supposedly they're 95% effective from either side. Our pharmacy sells them. I don't know how long you can keep using them, but I try to let them sit in time out 3 days before I reuse them.
I just looked them up. They sound very effective. The one article I saw ... https://www.terrycralle.com/kn95-mask/ ... thinks they are disposable after one use but that would make them kind of expensive. Did you see that it's now thought that the virus can live on objects up to about a month? ... https://www.bbc.com/news/health-54500673 ... I guess for the present I'll use the regular surgical masks that we used at the hospital surgery. They're a bit cheaper but don't fir as well or filter out as much. I'm tired of wearing masks! ;)

I tried to look up the BBC article but it said "not available".
It was a more recent study that found the virus could live up to 28 days on some objects - kind of horrifying because I had thought that leaving my mask for a week meant it was safe.
