Day 2
I'm now watching the second day of Trump's second impeachment trial. The arguments by the House managers are very well organized and probative. They are using video clips to show evidence of Trump's words, as well as evidence of his followers' actions, not just on January 6th, but for the months before that.
There are two things that stand out to me as I watch the presentation .... Trump's evil intent, and the brutality and ignorance of his followers.
If Republican senators do not vote to impeach, it will be proof of their utter self-interest and cowardice.

I don't think at this point that the Rs are even saying that Trump didn't cause the insurrection. They're doubling down on the claim that it's unconstitutional to impeach someone who is no longer in office. Of course there is precedent for doing so, and lawyers have made the case that it's not unconstitutional. But that has never stopped them, they just keep on lying.
Did you see this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/11/gop-meeting-new-party-trump/?utm_campaign=wp_post_most&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&wpisrc=nl_most&carta-url=https%3A%2F%2Fs2.washingtonpost.com%2Fcar-ln-tr%2F2f8c47f%2F60255d9a9d2fda4c88de20ab%2F5989fb89ade4e26514f82a69%2F50%2F70%2F60255d9a9d2fda4c88de20ab
There's some Republicans who want to break away and form a party which doesn't include Trump. I think they should.
I did see that. I hope it does happen and that there is then a decent alternative for non-Trump Republicans. I saw too that many Republicans have left the party after the riot - maybe a different Republican party would appeal to them.
Republican senators want to stick to process excuses for why they won't vote to impeach because they are too cowardly to go on the record as making a moral decision about what Trump did.
