Keystone

On this great day, the day the Keystone XL pipeline finally died (New York Times: The Keystone XL pipeline project has been terminated), environmentalist and journalist Bill McKibben, who fought against it, is on Rachel Maddow's show.

I'm glad the Keystone Pipeline is dead. My reason for saying that is that it would have gone through, or over, the Ogallala Aquifer, a large part of which lies under my state. And its epicenter happens to be under my old hometown, which is named Ogallala. Once polluted, the aquifer can't be cleaned up. All for tar sands from another country, on their way to be shipped to other foreign countries. The US wouldn't have gotten a drop of gas or oil out of it.

Ogallala = a Native American name? Yeah, I was reading about tar sands and that seems to be the least efficient and most dirty form of oil. I was pretty disappointed in Justin Trudeau for pushing it, even though he is supposed to be pro-environment.

Yeah, the name Ogallala comes from the Oglala Sioux, which I believe is part of the Lakota Sioux.
