Wow, I have never seen cone shaped acorns like that! Ours are round. I guess the Native Americans used to eat them, but they have to be treated to remove the tannic acid. Last year our tree didn't produce any, I think a late frost prevented them from setting on. I felt sorry for the squirrels, because they eat them. This year we have them. I often hear a thump from acorns dropping on the roof.

The squirrels eat them here too, and the blue jays also. All the ones here are long and thin instead of round ... a mystery :)
