Those boxes contained many pages of classified documents, according to a person familiar with their contents.
I thought Trump turned all those documents over to the National Archives months ago. My own personal belief (who knows?) is that Trump has planned to sell classified nformation to the highest bidders among his dictator peeps ... MBS, Putin, Xi, Kim Jong-un? Now he will use this situation to enflame his crazy base of voters, in the hopes of riding their hated of Democrats into the White House again in 2024.

The background to the search warrant raid on Mar a Lago is that 15 boxes of material that was supposed to be archived were recovered from there in February. I'm afraid that the search came too late. Trump already had ample time to get rid of anything incriminating.
True. Maybe it's stuff he didn't want to destroy, though. They would have had to convince a judge that not only was a crime committed, but that the evidence of it was there at the resort.
Heard tonight on the news that it's believed that there was an inside source at Trump's estate who informed the justice dept that there were documents there that were not being disclosed by Trump in negotiations - that Trump was lying - and that's why they went with a search warrant rather than a subpoena.
