A pause
UPDATE 11/3/23: Israel's military announces a brief window for people in northern Gaza to flee south
*
Secretary of State Tony Blinken was in Israel today, asking Prime Minister Netanyahu to consider a "pause" or a cease fire in the war. That looks unlikely umless Hamas hands over all the hostages. They won't.
Why doesn't Netanyahu want a cease fire, and is there a way to get humanitarian aid to Gaza?
My two favorite military commentators ... retired admiral James Stavridis and retired general Barry McCaffrey ... comment on this ...

Biden calls for humanitarian 'pause' in Israel-Hamas war (from @AP) —- A terrible policy blunder by Pres Biden. A “humanitarian pause” is a de facto “cease fire” that cannot be lifted. It leaves Hamas leadership intact. Hostages gone. https://t.co/W0rJOB60lz

There is room for major enhancement of humanitarian support of Palestinian civilians fleeing to the south. Fortunately a million or more are now out of the major area of intense ground combat. Can be intensively supported thru Egypt.
