I am glad Speaker Mike Johnson showed a little character and actually got the aid package done. I also give kudos to the Democrats who worked with him. But I don't understand some of the Democrats being so anti-Israel that they voted against it.I think they are giving in to a kind of ignorant group-think.
The voters some of them have to please are the most young voters, and also the Arab American voters in the swing states like Michigan, and those voters are very pro-Palestine. It's depressing, though, how much politicians are willing to take any posture to get votes. But some, like Congresswomen Jayapal and Tlaib and others, really are supporters of the Palestinian cause.
It's creepy how the very liberal people and the very conservative people can actually find common ground on the idea that political violence is ok as long as it's for a "good" cause, from bombing abortion clinics to kidnapping Israeli civilians.
