Questions

The day after Trump's brain-dead followers invaded the Capitol, there are so many questions. Why were the Capitol police not prepared for something like this, and why were they so nice to the rioters? Joe Scarborough dwells on this, dropping the F word in his anger, which I see they dleleted from the video ("you open the f*cking doors for them") ...

When peaceful protestors filled Lafayette Square on June 1, 2020, they were met with a heavily armed and violent police presence - on horseback, for God's sake. Why were yesterday's rioters treated so differently? Because they were pro-Trump instead of anti-Trump?

Joe didn't pull any punches, and he is right.
I had also noticed that it was very odd that the mob was able to gain access to the capitol, because as he pointed out, on an ordinary day a person trying to get into an unauthorized area would be stopped immediately.
I read that 56 cops were injured and one was killed. I suppose these were the ones trying to do their duty. Their leaders failed them by not having a good plan and actually enabling the terrorists. Not to mention they failed the country by allowing this to happen.

I've seen more about this since I wrote the post. Apparently the Capitol police knew what was going to happen - it was all over social media - and they were offered help beforehand by the FBI and the National Guard, but they didn't accept it. It seems that there were messages from the top (Trump?) that they didn't want to have a big police presence there. I think more and more will come out about this as the days go by.
