Freedom

Hundreds of animals lost after 4th of July, PACC works hard to reunite pets with families

Area animal shelters packed day after Fourth of July fireworks

July 4 considered the highest intake day of the year for animal shellters across the US

But hey, that's ok. They're just animals. As long as those who love exploding loud, toxic, and often illegal fireworks for untold hours (and days) get to exercise their freedoms, it doesn't matter how much damage is wrought. Cuz this is American, where personal freedoms are more important than anything or anyone else (unless you need an abortion, of course).

I was glad our neighbors kept their Huskies indoors. They normally are quite vocal, almost sound like they're "singing" sometimes. But they don't like fireworks. Or sirens. Cats don't seem as affected as dogs, but they get unsettled too.

The cats in the yard get really terrified. They rush around trying to find a safe place, but the explosions come from all sides because the area is so impacted with people. I think most of the cats hide in the crawl-space under the house.
