Planet of the Humans
I just deleted my earlier post of Ezra Klein's podcast with Bill McKibben on clean/green energy. Why? Because it had nothing at all aboit the downside of that kind of energy - not just solar and wind but also the burning of biomass (indlufing forests) and solid waste.
Looking up more on the subject, I came acoss a movie by Michael Moore from 2020 - Planet of the Humans. I recall when it came out that it was controversial and really upset supporters of clesn/green energy, but I never watched it.
Well, tonight I did. And it made me feel literally sick. If you look at the Wikipedia page for it, you will see all the criticisms of it, but I looked up a lot of info as I watched it, and there was enough was correct to be shocking - I had to stop before the very end when they showed living animals being crushed into "biomass" for "clean and renewable" energy.
At the end of the day, I think most people who consider themselves environmentalists, like me, will decide the movie is full of poop. Because if it's not, then God help us all. I can't convince myself of that. If anyone cares enough to give it a try, it's free to watch the whole thing on Youtube.

I didn't watch the Ezra Klein episode yet. I suppose there is a downside to everything, though. I know one drawback of renewable energy sources are the rare earth metals needed to make the storage batteries they need. I think we need to keep working on it to improve it Because we're never going to run out of sun and wind, they are available everywhere. Wars are not going to be started to get a monopoly on them.
I think this is why Trump wants Greenland. They are rich in rare earth minerals.
