One of the things that always makes an impression on me in the scriptures is how concerned Jesus is about people having enough to eat. Not just spiritually. Physically. Like when he raises the little girl up from the dead, and tells her parents, "Give her something to eat..."
I wonder how hungry people were in 1st century Judea. Were they on the brink of starvation all the time?
