Sunday is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
- Fra Angelico
- The ikon shown here is located on the ceiling of the south transept of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Meriden, CT. It was painted in 1961-2 by Ivan Diky.
Hmmm...i do not know if Dali has painted the Transfiguration. If he did I would very much like to see it...I will make a bit of digging to check. I also placed an icon on my site. I love the luminous blue in it.:-).
Reminds me of early grade school. I think, if I'm remembering correctly, we're sort of opposite-end Catholics, with you coming to it late and me early. I was pulled out of parochial school beginning of gr. 3. The nuns were REALLY mean at that school, which is why my parents put me in public school.
But I look at pictures like this and feel a little nostalgic for the colors, statuary etc. The stained glass at the old Catholic church in my home town was especially great, very deep, vivid colors. The church was torn down maybe thirty five years ago. Always did wonder what they did with the stained glass...
Hi Darius. That was a selling point for me, for becoming a catholic ... nice art. Throw in some interesting guys from the past like Cardinal Richeleau and Aramis - it was a done deal :-)

I like the images, Crystal. I think that more than other feasts, this one is about gazing at the splendor God.:-).
H Paula. I like the Titian one best :-)
