Gary Wills at Grace Cathedral
I came across another video discussion from Grace Cathedral, this one with the Pulitzer prize-winning author of Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America, Catholic writer Gary Wills, who discusses his latest book, Head and Heart: American Christianities, an examination of Christianity's place in American life across history, with mentions of the Deist Founding Fathers, The Great Awakening, the bloody religiosity of the Civil War, the Karl Rove era, and there's an interesting comment on present day Catholicism - I found it really interesting :) .....

Cool! I'm looking forward to watching that in full. Wills is an interesting writer. I have a sort of love/hate feeling about the guy.
I actually have a recent post heavily featuring Wills in draft form. I'm mulling over whether or not I want to post it.
Grace Cathedral has a lot of cool interviews in their archives. Were you ever able to listen to this one by Crossan? It's one of my favorites. Maybe you can hear it now that you have the high-speed connection.

I hadn't read anything about Wills bfore except an article about abortion. He's more interesting than I realized. I look forward to your post :)
Crystal, this is a very interesting video and it still is running but I must post on it now without reading any comments which I see cause I don’t have the time to listen or read anything more cause it burns withing me to say what I must say. Please forgive me if you don't agree on what I say but remember that they are only my thoughts and hopefully God will guide them cause I know that I as a man would lead everyone astray without His help. So here goes!
Old forces on the run?
Every individual has to be saved alone but we all need The Blessed Holy Trinity’s help and I’m sorry to say that He can’t be a she or God is a liar and having said that man should stop taking advantage of woman and yes same-sex- marriages is wrong!
Radical Self made Man is very dangerous because No human has a chance against the evil trinity and trying to understand him is the evil trinities best tool. How do I know? My heart tells me so!
I’m starting to understand more and more why it was said in so many words that we should be hot or cold and God will like us more than if we are Luc warm!
Give me blood, blood, not logic?
Again in trying to close I’ll say what I’ve always believed and I say “IT” with all the respect in this world that Jesus’ Words are all true or else He’s the biggest Liar who ever walked His earth. I believe that Jesus did not balance good or bad as we all do but no matter what He’ll always Love us, usual sinner cause He’s All Love.
We all have free will and forgive me Jesus if I’m not ready to walk UP your heavenly stairway cause that is another promise that You made to Man. Although I’ll be giving people a good laugh when I say that I believe that I’ve received The Communion of Saints but I’m not ready for the next step and that’s Your fault Lord cause I’ve told YOU that if you call me UP and You know that I would ask You Lord, You knew that I could still have helped some down there, Why did You bring me UP? Why did You not just keep an Eye on me and let me at least try to help a few more Men. I know that You Love them so much that you won’t let them remember what they did to themselves but Lord, did not Your Son ask You to forgive us humans cause we do not know what we’re doing?

Sounds like we're still praying for each other and I know that's good! :)
I won't say too much about the crucifiction in any school except to maybe look at it a picture of something or someone which we have all over our house but we don't worship "IT". It would be kind of like having a beautiful picture of let's say "The Queen" and then talking about her.
I really just came here to thank you for the material you left in Crystal's blog about Crossan lecture.
His Jesus and Memories made me think of spirituality verses reality and we’re having fun while learning all about good and bad human behaviors verifying all kinds of social treats and/or military treats of God’s Bleeding Patient Transformation Heart but I think that we’ll never know how much God really does Love us in this life time.
I’ll sum “IT” all UP and close by saying that maybe we’ll do better when and if we ever get into spiritual grade one with “The Jogger” or is that with God's Angels? :)
