No it's not wonderful and green here, it's pretty dried up :) With the drought, we can only water three times a week. I don't have a sprinker system so the lawn is turned brown and ctunchy, but I'm watering the flowers like the trumpet vine - they mostly grow in pots.
It's raining there? It almost never rains here in summer. When I lived in Portland it rained all the time. I kep thinkng, all we'd need is a really long hose and we could end California's drought.
Hi Crystal, Susannah just saw the picture of your trumpet vine and flipped over the color. She wants to know if they produce seeds, and if so, could you send her some.
Sounds to me like it might be a hybrid. We did a little looking on the internet and they mentioned that it may have seed pods, but also that they propagate with "suckers" or send out roots that come up around the original plant.
If you notice small plants coming up, perhaps you could dig a few out and FedEx them over night in a plastic bad with moist dirt. We would be glad to pay you for them and the FedEx cost.
Susannah bought three different kinds at the nursery the other day, but non of them the lovely color of yours.

My goodness, those are wonderful! The blog picture does not do them justice, I had to click on the pictures to see the wonderful detail.
From the dryness out here, I think your yard must be a wonderful green and damp wonderland.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Hugs,

You can have some of our water. I keep waiting for it to stop raining here in New York.

All the really long hoses are already being used to move water to SoCal.
Yes, it's that Chinatown thing :)

Email me if you can.

Mike,
I bought it from a catalogue as a small plant from Winterthur but I don't think they sell plants anymore, or at least I can't find where they do.
I haven't noticed any obvious seeds, but if Susannah can tell me where I would find the seeds on the plant I'll try to get some and send them to you.

No seed pods. I'll look for seedlings - it grows in a pot but I haven't been paying attention to any sprouts.
Oh, I've been looking around at google image search, and I think the vine might be Campsis grandiflora, or the Chinese trumpet vine.
