Data
Can't sleep so I might as well post this. Today I heard a song that took me straight back to this time in 2005 when my cat Data was very ill. He was fifteen years old, had bladder cancer and a number of other ailments, and he died in the beginning of January. He lived with me from the day he was born. I still love him and miss him.

Good morning Crystal, what a handsome cat. I like the markings on his face. Was Data considered a tuxedo cat? He reminds me of Rocky who, except for being overly fond of birds, is a fine companion. You should ask Santa for a kitty, you have a rare affection and empathy for animals which shouldn't go unrequited.
I think this day we are all thinking about death and the death of gentle ones.
Thanks for the Coventry Carol reminder. I listened to the words and read them carefully.
Hi Richard,
Thanks :) Yes, he was that kind of cat - you can see a few other photos of him here. He was Kermit's brother - all of them looked really different from each other. Is Rocky your cat?
Hi Dina,
Yeah, I guess the actual even the song is about probably didn't really occur historically but it still touches people because of situations like the recent shooting.
Oops - that's supposed to be 'event' not 'even' ;)
I guess I should say too that the idea of getting another pet makes me feel almost sick, so I suppose that means I'm not ready to do that.
I hesitate to claim ownership, we discovered him as a kitten chasing lizards on a pile of rocks near our house. He invited himself in one day and never left. Its been about five years so I guess he decided we're okay : )_
That's how Data's mom, Grendel, ended up here too. She just began hanging around and then suddenly had babies - instant ownership of four cats - eek! :)
Yeah no need to push it, I'm sure one will find you when you're ready.
