Ouch ;)

I've started going to physical therapy for my hurt back. My first assignment is to do a number of stretches every day. Some are pretty easy but there's one that's especially hard .... it reminded me of this funny bit from an episode of Frasier in which Niles and Daphne take yoga instruction :) ...

Hope your back is doing better. I found PT pretty helpful for my ruptured disk, it just took a long time to see results. Even so, I can't help thinking my therapist would have been an eager participant in the Spanish Inquisition:)

You have a ruptured disk too? My doc gave me three options - injections in the spine from a pain management doc, an operation, or physical therapy. Did you just do the PT? Does your back still hurt? So far I'm just doing some stretching exercises but my back actually seems to be hurting more. I hope I can hang in there until we get to the strengthening exercise part.

My MRI said 4 but none of them recent apparently as you age the nerve channels in the vertebrae tend to narrow anyway so the earlier injuries can show up later. I always thought my back was in pretty good shape so it was a nasty surprise. The Doc gave me the same options, but with PT, judicious use of some pain meds, and several months of limited physical activity the pain and numbness abated considerably. I can even run a little now, at the time I was beginning to wonder if I could even walk. Best advice I received from my therapist was to respect the injury. I took it heart and I think it made a difference. For myself I'm glad I didn't jump into injections or surgery but I guess were all a little different. Always amazed at the body's capacity to heal. Any way, wish you the best with all that. Not much fun:(

I'm still taking a lot of advil but after reading about the spinal injections I ruled them out, though my step mother gets those and thinks they help. Surgery sounds too scary, so I'll stick with physical therapy and hope for the best :) Thanks.
