Goodbye dotCommonweal

The dotCommonweal blog has done away with the option of commenting on posts. For years I've visited there to discuss the latest Catholic news, political news, social news. Feel sort of homeless now and I will miss the exchanges :(

I will miss it, too. I am so sad to loose this community. Through the years I have appreciated your comments, which I thought, cut to the core of most issues. Maybe some of the regulars will come here to your blog to comment.

Hi Anna. Thanks - it's good to know I'm not the only one who will miss the community there. Wish there was a way to get the editors to change their minds but they didn't seem interested in doing that. Maybe we should all get together and start a new blog or maybe find some other simpatico place ... NCR, Jesuit Post, America, Religion Dispatches, US Catholic, the Tablet?

Hi Crystal, maybe I didn't hit the right button. Anyway, glad to stay in touch. Your blog is in my bookmarks.

I forget sometimes that everyone isn't also a blogger at Blogspot. It's a bit over a decade I've been blogging and most of the people I know online are or were other bloggers. Maybe it could work for the dotCommonweal people to start their own blog with multiple posters.

On the other hand, I wish America would shut down its comments section. It's overgrown with right wing Kudzu. The magazine also tries to be evenhanded by publishing articles catering to the neoliberals. Like the other 99.9% of the media isn't enough for them.

I guess America was much more liberal when Thomas Reese SJ was the main editor, but then the Vatican had him removed. Now he's at NCR.
