A message for Trump and his administration: You are not America.
What you are is an anomaly, an electoral fluke, lifted up to power by a minority of voters. As a group and as individuals you are notable for a devastating lack of intelligence, integrity, and courage. In the years to come American will look back on you as a mistake. It won't be pretty, but America will survive you.

I was watching historian Jon Meecham on a tv news show and he pointed out that things have been worse. When I was in high school/college Martin Luther King was assassinated, Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, there were half a million US troops in Vietnam, there were race riots in most big cities, college students were shot dead at Kent State by the National Guard, the 1968 Democratic convention was a mess, and the president thought he was above the law. But we're still here.
