Party of life?

Poll: 57% Of Republicans Find Coronavirus Death Toll, Now Over 176,000, ‘Acceptable’

A majority of Republican voters think that the U.S. coronavirus death toll, which is over 176,000 and rising, is “acceptable,” a CBS News/YouGov poll found Sunday, with an even larger number saying that the national response to coronavirus is “going well." ...

How many decades have Republicans styled the Democratic party as "the party of death" and their own party as "the party of life"? Just another Republican lie.

The thing is, they're not doing the math. They're saying that many people would have died anyway, how do we even know it was the virus that killed them? It's not rocket science to figure it out. You take the average mortality figures from similar time periods in recent years, which remain pretty stable. If you have a spike above those numbers, it was because something happened. That something was Covid 19.

Hi Katherine. Yes, the institutions that are making the death counts know what they are doing. There are the numbers of deaths in hospitals due to the virus, plus the unusually high numbers of people dying at home, and a lot of the time those latter people are not included in the death counts. But I'm not sure it's that people don't believe that many are dying, it's that they are ok with that many dying.
