Omicron

COVID will never go away (at least in humans) until almost everyone everywhere is vaccinated - the only way to doom it is to keep it from replicating. But here in the US, more than 40% of Americans are unvaccinated. In the whole world it's way worse. Sadly, I don't think we have the will to do what's necessary to end this virus.

Covid, the gift that keeps on giving. Unfortunately I think you are right, we don't have the will to stop it. From what I'm reading, it isn't just us; other countries also are dealing with a lot of resistance and misinformation.

Yeah, I think it's we as humans, not just Americans. I think people will ultimately decide that a certain amount of death from Covid is acceptable if it means the ones who survive can go about lives relatively normally.

I don't know if this is just wishful thinking, but some think there might be a positive side to the omicron; that it could be more contagious but less likely to cause serious illness:

That would be good news. If it is more successful than the more deadly variants, then things might get better. Until the next variant.
