Vote for Obama, go to hell?
Watching this creepy video of Bishop Thomas John Paprocki threatening people with damnation if they vote for Obama ...
... I was reminded of something that happened at Vatican II. A US Catholic article from Sept. 1995, Detour: the Commission on Birth Control (from Turning point), quotes this exchange from the last meeting of the Commission in which conservatives opine that the church can't change its doctrine because it had already sent people to hell based on it .....
[Spanish Jesuit Father Marcelino] Zalba ... "What then," he asked, "with the millions we have sent to hell if these norms were not valid?"
Patty Crowley [a married Catholic from Chicago] could not restrain herself. "Father Zalba," she interjected, "do you really believe God has carried out all your orders?"
A momentary stunned silence followed, then some chuckles at this intrusion of common sense in these austere deliberations.

Wow! It's nice when common sense prevails :)
Especially in the area of religion :)
Commenting on only this film clip, I must say that even Bishops are entitled to their verbal opinions but we Christians must all be careful that the demons in-charge don't start destroying our world because we don't see "IT" their way!

I hear ya! Noted sinner vic! Go back and pray NOW! :)
Peace
Hi Victor :)
The Bishop though is stressing platform to the exclusion of other factors such as that Romney also allows abortion for rape, incest and health of mother and Romney or Obama will pick the next supreme court justices. It will not be their party or platform that chooses the justices. Prof Schneck of CUA was odd for putting a percent of abortion increase under Ryan but the Weekly Standard's response was just as odd for not noticing that there is a problem despite a lack of precedent and studies....ie if you reduce medicaid by $810 billion on the Fed's side like Romney Ryan, and if medicaid funds 37% of the births in the US, then something has to give. The upper bandwidth of income qualifying for medicaid will shrink. Those females then making just above the cut off income will now have to pay out of their own pocket for either childbirth or abortion and abortion is way cheaper. That is not Ryan's fault IF he believes that otherwise we will go bankrupt. But some of the Bishops then wonder why he wants military untouched. Wars with muslims seem to produce nothing but national debt additions....much like Vietnam. The anti Ryan Bishops though are silent because Obama is an institutional threat to Catholicism on the insurance mandate. There could be a memo from Dolan to other Bishops that that factor overrides which candidate will actually enable more abortions....either by laws or by cuts.
hhhhi Bill,
Thanks for the comment. I get the feeling that the bishops aren't really interested in the details of which side's stategy will actually end leading to fewer abortions. Maybe the religious liberty issue, the weight the church thinks it could have in the government's future policy decisions, really matters the most to them?
Crystal,
I believe you are correct.
I hope that at least GOD (Good Old Dad) really does care about The Unborn Angels!
Victor! Victor! Victor! That's Rediculist! Wage UP and smell the roses cause nowadays, there's no such a thing as The Unborn Angels who can compete with real gods. Yes some might believe for a spiritual reality second moment or so that a fetus might exist but face 'Reality' Victor, they're no more important than any Ebryonic Stem Cells and/or Adult Stem Cells and if ya don't believe me, me, and me just ask "The gods of the almighty dollars".
I believe you are correct sinner vic!
NO! NO! You're not!
Who said that? :)
Peace
